The Bay Area has created several scenes. In Haight-Ashbury, the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, and Jefferson Airplane were the highlights of the Summer of Love. In the 80s, a street helped create Thrash Metal in the region. Punk was boiling in smaller clubs, and Green Day came from the suburbs to bring punk to the whole world.
