I-Beam Club

The Story

This legendary place operated as a music venue and gay dance club between 1977 and 1994. Faith No More played their first show with Mike Patton on November 4, 1988. The place had the famous "Monday Night Live" with local bands. I-Beam had great concerts from artists such as Siouxsie and the Banshees, Pixies, Pearl Jam, U2, Duran Duran, Jesus and Mary Chain, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane's Addiction, and Run-DMC. The I-Beam closed in 1994 after a long battle with neighbors over sound issues. After 10 years, the place was torn down and a modern apartment house with retail shops at street level was constructed on the site.
