1990
This store opened in 1990, created by Michael McFadin, owner of the Ubiquity Records label, initially operating within the space of the legendary Rooky Ricardo's, on Haight Street. In 1997, employee Chris Veltri, then 26 years old, bought the business and spent the next three decades personally curating the collection. The store became a hotspot for names like the Beastie Boys, who were looking for rare jazz, soul, and funk samples. It remains open today.
