Amoeba Music Berkeley

The Story

Founded on Telegraph Avenue in 1990 by former Rasputin Records employees, Amoeba was born inspired by imported record stores and bootlegs that were already successful in Berkeley. Green Day, Primus, and all the big names from the Bay Area have passed through here as customers, employees, or artists. The first and original of the three Amoeba stores, followed by San Francisco and Hollywood.
