The Story
The San Francisco branch of Amoeba Music opened in 1997 in a 2,200m² area, in a former bowling alley near Golden Gate Park. The collection is impressive, with over 100,000 CDs, vinyl records, and cassettes. Founded in Berkeley in 1990, Amoeba survived the decline of physical media by understanding that a record store is also a community center. Still active.
