This is the street in Berkeley where the Bay Area thrash scene began. Teenagers scrounged up money mowing lawns and came here to check out imported records at Record Vault. Kirk Hammett of Metallica and Gary Holt of Exodus met here. Lars Ulrich came here with the same crew before Metallica existed. Ron Quintana founded the fanzine Metal Mania after conversations on this street. The scene started on these sidewalks.
