The Story

House in the Excelsior neighborhood where Jerry Garcia moved in 1947, at the age of five, after his father's sudden death, to live with his maternal grandparents and brother Tiff. He spent five formative years here, attending Monroe Elementary School. Jerry Garcia wrote his only book about his memories of this neighborhood, called Harrington Street, which was released after his death.
