The Story

Rolling Stone was founded in San Francisco in November 1967 by Jann Wenner. The team settled in this loft on Brannan Street to put together the first issue, and it was right here, on top of the building's printing press, that the magazine came off the machine for the first time on November 9, 1967. The magazine that defined rock music journalism for the next five decades started here. It moved to New York in 1977.
