The Story
The bar and restaurant that Cartola and his wife Dona Zica opened in 1963 on Rua da Carioca, where for the first time samba from the favelas and bossa nova from Zona Sul sat in the same place. Nara Leão, Edu Lobo, and Carlos Lyra ate alongside samba musicians from Mangueira. The place closed in 1965. A plaque marks the building, which is now a store.
