Paralamas do Sucesso
1982
Located at Rua Humaitá, 380, in the Humaitá neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, this venue marked the beginning of one of the biggest names in Brazilian rock. On November 30th and December 1st, 1982, the Western Club hosted the first official shows of the classic lineup of Paralamas do Sucesso, bringing together Herbert Vianna, Bi Ribeiro, and João Barone. At the box office, anthropologist Hermano Vianna, Herbert's brother, and journalist Tom Leão (now a journalist) were collecting admission. The house was packed on both nights, and the money raised helped pay the rent for Estúdio Retoque, in Botafogo, where the band would record their first demo tape. The venue, which later ceased its activities as an event club, became the home of the traditional Casa do Mago store.
