The Story

Opened in 1968 in Copacabana, this tiny "botequim" became one of the most authentic and emblematic places in Rio's popular culture. Under the legendary command of activist and producer Alfredinho, the spot became an informal meeting point for big names and new talents from samba, choro, and bossa nova. Without a stage or amplification, musicians gathered around the central table while the audience listened in silence. Even after the passing of its iconic owner, the space maintains its communal and bohemian tradition. There's a blue city hall plaque honoring the importance of the place. Still active.
