The McCartney Steps

The Story

This small staircase at the Pig & Whistle has an unconfirmed legend that a young Paul McCartney and his brother Mike used to sit here, waiting for their father to finish his beer inside. The pub itself acknowledges that the story might be a myth but named the steps "McCartney Steps." In 2018, local artist Laura Marshall painted a mural on the interior wall depicting Liverpool's culture. The pub remains active, full of irreverence, and is now known for its karaoke nights.
