St Peter's Church Hall

The Story

On July 6, 1957, 16-year-old John Lennon played here with his skiffle group The Quarrymen at the church fête. A mutual friend introduced him to 15-year-old Paul McCartney. That day, the Beatles partnership began. The hall is still standing next to the cemetery, where the headstone bearing the name Eleanor Rigby can also be found. At the site of this meeting that changed music history, there is a commemorative plaque.
