George Harrison Childhood Home

The Quarrymen, The Beatles, George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney

1949

The Story

This three-bedroom terraced house was where George Harrison's family lived between 1949 and 1962. George was 6 years old when they moved here. It was here that he learned to play the guitar, and at 15, he joined The Quarrymen at Paul McCartney's recommendation. The house's living room became one of the band's main rehearsal spots. It was at the front door of number 25 that the iconic photo of George leaving the house with his guitar case in hand was taken. The family left the house in 1962, and today it operates as a vacation rental and a small museum with guided tours that provide access to the interior of the place.
