L.A. Woman was recorded almost entirely at The Doors Workshop, the band's own rehearsal space on Santa Monica Blvd, after The Doors and producer Paul Rothchild had a falling out. The band set up an improvised studio right there, with Jim Morrison recording vocals standing in the bathroom doorway. It's the last album released with Jim Morrison alive. He died about two and a half months after its release. Today, there's a restaurant in its place, and you can visit the same bathroom.
