Blur, Damon Albarn, Mozart
1990
This Victorian pub in Soho was London's premier concert hall in the 1740s and 50s, where Mozart performed in 1765 at just nine years old. The upstairs room, with walls covered in sheet music and a portrait of Mozart, was Blur's chosen location to sign their contract with Food Records in the early 90s. It was the official starting point for the band that would define Britpop. Decades later, the same floor served as the backdrop for an Apple Music interview, with the band recalling their connection to Soho. Still active at the same address.
