The Story
In May 1962, Brian Jones placed an ad in Jazz News looking for musicians for a new R&B band and scheduled auditions at the Bricklayers Arms pub, which was located at this address in Soho. Ian Stewart was the first to respond. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards showed up later. It was here, in an upstairs room of a pub, that the Rolling Stones began. The building is now the Sounds of the Universe record store.
