FOPP

The Story

Fopp was founded in 1981 by Gordon Montgomery as a market stall in Glasgow. The name came from the 1975 Ohio Players song "Fopp." The chain grew to over 100 stores in the UK before collapsing in 2007 while absorbing rival chain Music Zone. It re-emerged with a few stores and is now operated by Sunrise Records under license of the brand. The London unit is located here, in the famous Seven Dials, in Covent Garden, and is one of the largest physical vinyl distributors in the UK, offering CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, and books at below-market prices. It regularly hosts live shows, signing sessions, and events with artists.
