The Story

The debut album cover of The Beach Boys was photographed at Paradise Cove beach in Malibu, in July 1962, by Capitol Records photographer Ken Veeder. The yellow pickup truck shown in the image didn't even belong to the band. Surfin' Safari was released in October 1962 by Capitol Records and was the first step for a band that, in a few years, would become one of the most influential in American pop history, helping to export the Californian lifestyle, surfing, and the sound of reverberating guitars to the entire world.
