The Story

EastWest Studios, formerly United Western Recorders, Ocean Way Recording, and Cello Studios, is one of Hollywood's most historic and legendary recording studios. Over the past six decades, it has been the birthplace of major hits in pop, rock, and R&B. Frank Sinatra recorded his Reprise-era albums here. Brian Wilson created much of Pet Sounds and SMiLE here. Madonna recorded Like a Prayer in Studio 1 during the Ocean Way era. Green Day is also cited as one of the artists who passed through Studio 2 during the Cello Studios era (1999–2005), along with bands like Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, and Sum 41. The studio preserves one of the best-maintained analog recording rooms in Los Angeles.
