The Story

This is London's largest independent record store, opened in July 2007 at the Old Truman Brewery, a historic courtyard next to Brick Lane in the East End. Spanning 465 m², the space features vinyl, CDs, books, merchandise, a café, a photo booth, and a stage with a capacity for 200 people, where free shows take place. Rough Trade has been around since 1976. It was the label that launched The Smiths in the 80s and helped distribute The Clash, Buzzcocks, and Stiff Little Fingers. The East stage has hosted performances by Blur, Little Simz, The Hives, and Vampire Weekend. Free shows usually start at 7 PM, with wristbands picked up at the store. Still active.
