The Story

This is London’s largest independent record store, opened in July 2007 at the Old Truman Brewery, a historic courtyard next to Brick Lane in the East End. Spanning 465 m², the space offers vinyl, CDs, books, merchandise, a café, a photo booth, and a stage with a 200-person capacity for free shows. Rough Trade has been around since 1976. It was the label that launched The Smiths in the 80s and distributed The Clash, Buzzcocks, and Stiff Little Fingers. The East stage has hosted Blur, Little Simz, The Hives, and Vampire Weekend. Free shows, usually at 7 PM, with wristbands picked up at the store. Still active.
