The Ramones
1970s / 2016
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, future members of the legendary band Ramones, Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee, and Tommy, grew up in the neighborhood and used the ramp of this parking garage at the Thorneycroft Apartments as a meeting point to escape boredom. In 2016, during the 40th-anniversary celebrations of their first album, artist Ori Carino painted a mural of the Ramones sitting right there. The Queens Museum organized the inauguration. It's just a few minutes from Forest Hills High School.
