The Story

It was on a Union wall at Imperial College that Brian May put up an ad looking for a drummer, and Roger Taylor responded. On July 18, 1970, still with Mike Grose on bass, they took to the stage of the Union Concert Hall to play their first show in London. Brian May himself was part of the entertainment committee and had helped organize shows for names like Jimi Hendrix. In 2013, Brian May and Roger Taylor returned to the site to receive a music heritage award from PRS for Music and unveil a commemorative plaque on the façade of Prince Consort Road. The Union Concert Hall remains active, still used today by the Imperial College's theater society and film club.
