The Story

English Heritage Blue Plaque marking the house in Chelsea where Bob Marley lived in 1977, after fleeing Jamaica following a politically motivated assassination attempt at his home in Kingston. He and The Wailers rehearsed and lived together here while finishing the recording of the album Exodus, now considered by many to be the best album of the 20th century. When they weren't working, they would cross the Albert Bridge to play football in Battersea Park. It was also during this time that Marley grew close to the London punk scene, hanging out with members of The Clash, an encounter that inspired the song "Punky Reggae Party."
