It was the first to feature a theme, a choreographed wing, a front commission, a children's school, and an agogô. Dona Ivone Lara was the first woman to compose a samba-enredo in the history of Rio's carnival. Silas de Oliveira, Mano Décio da Viola, and Arlindo Cruz also belonged to its composers' wing.
