Quadra do Grande Rio

The Story

Founded in 1988 from the merger of four schools in Duque de Caxias, Grande Rio is one of the youngest samba schools in the Special Group, and one of the most ambitious. It took decades to win, but in 2022, they finally did it with the theme "Fala, Majeté! Sete Chaves de Exu" (Speak, Majeté! Seven Keys of Exu), considered one of the most daring parades in recent carnival history. The samba court is in Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense, and rehearsals attract a loyal audience that crosses the city to be there.
