Quadra da Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel

The Story

Founded on November 10, 1955, Mocidade has six titles in the Special Group. Its drum section, led for decades by the legendary Mestre André, invented the "paradinha" (a brief drum stop) in 1959, a year after the school was champion of the access group. The new samba hall on Avenida Brasil has 33,000 square meters and capacity for 12,000 people, the largest among all samba schools in Rio.
