Mistura Fina

The Story

It was at this location that Mistura Fina operated between 1992 and 2007, a venue created by architect Pedro Paulo Machado. Before it, the same 1950s mansion housed Les Templiers, one of Rio's most chic and expensive restaurants, with a piano-bar called O Teclado, where Luizinho Eça and Eduardo Prates played. Mistura Fina became a place for jam sessions and feijoadas on Saturdays and hosted names like Ron Carter and John Pizzarelli. The singer Elza Soares even lived in the house, alongside the soccer player Garrincha, before it became a concert venue. It closed in April 2007, after years of resisting real estate speculation, and the land became an apartment building.
