It was in the basement of a movie theater on Cherokee Ave that British promoter Brendan Mullen transformed this iconic venue into a rehearsal and performance club in 1977. The Germs, X, The Weirdos, and Black Flag all played here before any of them had ever recorded an album. It lasted two years and defined the sound and attitude of Los Angeles punk.
