The Story

The performing arts complex on the Upper West Side opened in 1962 and became the home of the New York Philharmonic. Miles Davis and John Coltrane both performed in the halls. Leonard Bernstein conducted the Philharmonic here for decades. The complex also hosts jazz festivals, free outdoor concerts and the Metropolitan Opera.
