The Story
The buildings at 96 and 98 St. Mark's Place are the backdrop of Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti. Designer Peter Corriston cut the 5th floors out to make them fit the square format. The Rolling Stones also filmed 'Waiting on a Friend' on these same steps in 1981.
