Damon Albarn, Blur, Gorillaz, Records
1974
This shop on Portobello Road has been around since 1974, when it was founded by Jon Clare. It specializes in jazz, blues, reggae, soul, and dub. In 1979, it moved to its current location on Portobello Road and became a landmark in London's West End. Damon Albarn lived in the area with Justine Frischmann in the 90s, and the shop was mentioned in the lyrics of "Blue Jeans" from the 1993 album *Modern Life Is Rubbish*. In 2002, Damon Albarn himself became a partner in Honest Jon's Records, a label founded by the current owners of the shop. It is still active at the same address.
