Damon Albarn, Blur, Gorillaz
1968
This is the house in Leytonstone where Damon Albarn, Blur and Gorillaz frontman, lived as a child with his family. In October 2014, Damon returned to the address to personally unveil a commemorative blue plaque installed by the Waltham Forest Council. At the event, he recalled the herds of cows that still passed through Fillebrook Road. Leytonstone's multiracial neighborhood, he said, "had a very profound effect on me." The Mercury Prize-nominated album Everyday Robots (2014) revisits this childhood. The track Hollow Ponds is named after the lake in Epping Forest where Albarn played as a child. This is a private residence.
