Edifício Noel Rosa

Noel Rosa

The Story

The address on Rua Teodoro da Silva where Noel Rosa was born on 11 December 1910 and lived his entire life — including his brief marriage and his death from tuberculosis on 4 May 1937, aged 26. The delivery was difficult: a forceps procedure left his jaw permanently sunken, a feature he carried all his life and turned into a running joke rather than a grievance. He composed nearly 300 songs before dying. The original house was demolished; in its place stands a residential building the locals named after him.
