Edifício Noel Rosa

Noel Rosa

1910

The Story

The address on Teodoro da Silva Street where Noel Rosa was born on December 11, 1910, and lived his entire life, including his brief marriage, and his death from tuberculosis on May 4, 1937, at the age of 26. A forceps delivery at birth left his jaw permanently retracted, a feature he carried throughout his life and made into a joke rather than a source of complaint. He composed almost 300 songs before he died. The original house was demolished. In its place, there is a residential building that locals named after him.
