The Story

This famous building in the Center is where Milton Nascimento lived shortly after arriving from Três Pontas. Here he met the Borges family in 1963. A week after they moved there, Lô Borges, only 10 years old, went downstairs to buy bread and, on the way, heard the sound of voice and guitar growing stronger and stronger. He reached the 5th floor and found Milton, a stranger who hadn't even started his career yet, playing alone. From this friendship, some of Milton's first compositions would be born, including "Novena" and "Crença," and in time, the Clube da Esquina itself. The building still stands on Avenida Amazonas.
