The Story
The front and back covers of this classic album were photographed on December 17, 1969, in Los Angeles, by Henry Diltz, with art direction by Gary Burden. At the time, the building was a low-cost hotel for travelers, called "The Morrison Hotel." It has been closed for years, and in December 2023 it was bought by a foundation with plans to turn it into affordable housing, but in December 2024 it suffered a large fire, which cast doubt on that future.
