The Story

Richard Ashcroft of The Verve famously walked down this street in Hoxton, oblivious to everyone, in the 1997 music video for Bittersweet Symphony. The shot begins at the corner of Hoxton Street and Falkirk Street, with Ashcroft heading north without deviating from his path. It's one of the most recognizable music videos of the Britpop era. The song used a sample from The Rolling Stones that cost The Verve all of the group's royalties. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards ended up with all the credits.
