The cover of the album 52nd Street was photographed on West 52nd Street in Midtown. The street, which in the 1 940s and 50s was the center of jazz in New York, with clubs such as Birdland, Three Deuces, and Onyx Club operating nearby. Today the original building has been demolished and replaced by the Equitable Building, and the spot where Billy Joel was leaning is to the right of the entrance to BNP Paribas.
