The Story

This was an experimental club that didn't last long and was the founding place of the Berlin School of electronic music and German Krautrock. Edgar Froese used this place as a laboratory for what would become Tangerine Dream. Klaus Schulze and Conrad Schnitzler also emerged from this space. The shows had no set end time, and performances, light projections, and improvisation were completely free. The Zodiak closed in 1969. The building still exists and today houses HAU2, part of the Hebbel am Ufer theater.
