Nils Frahm, Moderat, Sting, A-ha, Depeche Mode
1956
This complex was built between 1951 and 1956 as the headquarters of East German radio, designed by Bauhaus architect Franz Ehrlich, including what was then the largest music recording studio. After reunification in 1990, the broadcaster was shut down, and the building remained inactive for years until it became a hub for music production. Today, composer Nils Frahm maintains a permanent studio in Block B, and the Moderat studio produced the 2022 album *More D4ta*. The complex has hosted sessions by Sting and A-ha in the Planet Roc studio, and a Depeche Mode concert in 2017, live from Saal 1, to launch the album *Spirit*.
