Lido

The Story

This building operated as a cinema between the 1950s and 60s, where East Side residents would go to watch Western films. In the 1970s, it became a rock hotspot under the name Westside, and in the 1980s it served as a rehearsal space for the Schaubühne theater before being abandoned. Reopened in May 2006 as Lido, the venue reclaimed Berlin's indie and rock scene, hosting Maximo Park, CocoRosie, Sportfreunde Stiller, and Beatsteaks. It remains active.
