The open space underneath the MASP's span has hosted free concerts, protests, and decades of São Paulo's street culture. Designed by Lina Bo Bardi, with the building inaugurated in 1968, the suspended free span has become one of the city's most iconic settings for music and public life. The space is now managed by the museum itself, which has begun to occupy it with exhibitions and art installations.
