Largo da Batata

Cena indie e rock alternativo paulistano anos 2000

· 2000

The Story

The square in Pinheiros that became the informal centre of São Paulo's indie and alternative rock scene in the 2000s, with clubs like Inferno, Ó do Borogodó and Bar Samba in the surrounding streets. The neighborhood's mix of record shops, rehearsal spaces and cheap bars created a circuit where bands could form, rehearse, record and play within a few blocks. The square itself was renovated in 2010; the scene dispersed but the neighborhood's musical identity never fully left.
