U2 Achtung Baby Hackescher Markt

The Story

It was under this railway viaduct, on Kleine Präsidentenstraße, that photographer Anton Corbijn captured Bono and Larry Mullen Jr. walking through Berlin in late 1990, and it became one of the 16 photos on the cover of Achtung Baby. Here, it is the third photo in the first column. The final cover design was created by designer Steve Averill and Shaughn McGrath, blending this and other photos from Berlin, Tenerife, and Morocco, creating a photo mosaic. The viaduct still stands today, surrounded by the nightlife and tourism of Hackescher Markt.
