This gymnasium was built in 1951 by the United States Air Force as a sports facility for American soldiers stationed in Berlin during the Cold War. After the withdrawal of American forces in 1994, the building remained closed for years until it reopened as a concert venue in 1998. It underwent a complete renovation in 2014. With a capacity for 3,500 people, it became one of Berlin's main concert halls, hosting Rancid, Die Ärzte, Meshuggah, Alter Bridge, Epica, Avatar, Dinosaur Jr., and Pixies, in addition to regular rock, punk, and heavy metal shows. Many artists also use the space for rehearsals before tours and festivals. It is located directly opposite the former Tempelhof Airport, on the border between Tempelhof and Kreuzberg. Still active.
