Tresor, Juan Atkins, Jeff Mills
1991
This club was founded in March 1991 within the subterranean vaults of the former Wertheim department store. It was here that Berlin techno took shape shortly after the fall of the Wall, with Tresor among the first clubs in Europe to host Detroit pioneers such as Juan Atkins and Jeff Mills. It closed in 2005 and reopened in 2007 in the former Heizkraftwerk Mitte power station, renamed Kraftwerk Berlin. It remains active, sharing the building with the Berlin Atonal festival and an exhibition program.
