The Story

This studio occupies a former Masonic temple from 1922, purchased in 1968 by composer Geordie Hormel and transformed into a recording complex. In 1978, Fleetwood Mac practically moved into the building to record the album Tusk, rebuilding Studio D to custom-fit the band, including a special vocal booth for Stevie Nicks. Over the following decades, The Village hosted Steely Dan, who recorded parts of Aja and Gaucho there, as well as Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, and Tom Petty, who recorded part of Southern Accents. More recently, names like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Lady Gaga also passed through the studio, with Gaga recording a significant portion of the A Star Is Born soundtrack on location. Under the direction of Jeff Greenberg since 1995, The Village Recorder remains active.
