Devonshire Sound / Salami Studios

The Story

This studio was founded in Granada Hills and in 1971, it moved to North Hollywood, on Magnolia Boulevard, in a project by studio architect David Mancini, gaining four recording rooms. Billy Joel passed through there, recording Streetlife Serenade in 1974, Ringo Starr, recording Stop and Smell the Roses in 1980, and Tom Petty, who recorded part of Full Moon Fever. In the following years, it also hosted Ozzy Osbourne, recording the legendary No More Tears, as well as Nirvana, Roger Waters, and Tupac, before closing as Devonshire in 1992. The building remains active to this day, now as Salami Studios, specializing in soundtracks and dubbing for games, films, and cartoons.
