The Story

The Larrabee was originally established in the 1960s as a modest space in West Hollywood by singer-songwriter Carole King and her husband, Gerry Goffin, to record their own compositions. In 1991, Larrabee purchased a North Hollywood studio space located at 4162 Lankershim Boulevard. The Larrabee built a reputation as a major recording hub on the West Coast, hosting legendary artists such as Cher, Janet Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, and George Clinton. It was one of Michael Jackson's favorite studios during his most productive phase. Whitney Houston, Madonna, and Prince also recorded here.
