The Story

This store opened in 1974, founded by Sanders "Sandy" Chase, a classical violinist who used his earnings from concerts to set up the business, starting with his personal collection of 10,000 classical records. Today, it is the oldest record store in Los Angeles, with over 500,000 items. Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Quincy Jones, and Bette Midler have all visited the store. It remains in operation.
